Pico is said to be working on a new pair of mixed reality goggles, codenamed ‘Swan’, which are designed to be ultra-thin and lightweight, reportedly weighing around just 100 grams, according to a report by The Information.
The device is said to adopt a hybrid design, using a tethered compute puck to handle processing power. This setup allows the headset itself to be much slimmer and lighter compared to current-gen devices like the Meta Quest 3 or Pico 4 Ultra.
Instead of traditional controllers, Swan will reportedly rely on eye and hand tracking for input. Sources familiar with the project say Pico is also developing custom chips to process sensor data efficiently, aiming to reduce latency between physical movements and what users see in the mixed reality environment.
The concept is said to be similar to Meta’s upcoming MR device, rumored to be codenamed ‘Phoenix’, which also features a compute puck and sleek glasses-like form. Depending on the source, Meta’s device has been referred to by multiple codenames — ‘Phoenix’, ‘Loma’, and ‘Puffin’ — and is expected to launch around 2026 or 2027, potentially priced under $1,000.
As for Swan, there’s no official word yet on pricing or release regions. Historically, Pico’s consumer headsets have been priced slightly higher than Meta’s and have mainly launched in East and Southeast Asia, as well as Europe, with no presence yet in North America.
